hey you- yes you, just want you to know you’re loved today. And well, every day. you’re loved just as you are, despite mistakes and foibles and fear. you’re loved for your laughter and in the lack of it, for grand plans and the smallest of schemes. you’re loved for the way you make others feel and the way you make yourself feel in the moments where you slow down and savor your own company. you’re loved for your breath and breadth and being. you’re loved because you can dance and fall and dance again. you’re loved for that pancake recipe you always make and the way your eyes light up when that one song comes on. you’re loved for learning to say no, and yes, and I’ll take some time to sit with that. you’re loved for giving second chances and sometimes third and for learning holding a grudge means holding a heart hostage. you’re loved for your bad moods and depressions and anxious thoughts. you’re loved for the mushy parts, the soft corners and edges you hold on your form. you’re loved for late night phone calls and hands held and love letters you write and never send. you’re loved for rock bottoms and complete confusion and the indecision you wish wouldn’t win. you’re loved not because you always do the right thing, but because you strive every day to do a little bit more, a little bit better, a little bit well- real. you’re loved because you’ve learned love is a currency you can give freely, because you’ve been loved and will love and are love. you’re loved because you fight for those you care for and know the ones who truly love you, do the same. you’re loved because the surf holds you and the sky moves you and you cried watching baby birds hatch. you’re loved because of your struggles not despite them, because of your standards not behind them, because of your sensitivities not without them. you’re loved for that heart so big it cannot seem to be contained within your small human body. you’re loved for the unique ways you are you - knowing love provides an endless supply, trusting it is the fabric to the very life you live and understanding it is the meaning behind the every word you speak. you’re loved. it’s just a fact.
